Title Charm mixing: OPE versus chiral symmetry breaking
Abstract Theoretical analysis for charmed mesons is more challenging than that for beauty hadrons due to difficulties originating from the middle-sized scale of charm quark mass as well as non-trivial structure of the CKM matrix. Among processes for charmed mesons, $D^0-\bar{D}^0$ mixing is particularly difficult since suppression from the Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani mechanism renders observables uncontrollable in precision. In the first part of this talk, charm mixing based on the conventional operator product expansion (OPE) approach is discussed. In the second part, the Dyson-Schwinger approach to charm mixing is investigated, particularly focused on dynamical chiral symmetry breaking. It is shown that the latter method leads to a notable improvement as a theoretical framework in the sense that the order of magnitude of the mass difference observable is reproduced. This talk is based on [arXiv:2504.11745].
