Title | Hard scattering and holographic QCD |
Abstract | String amplitudes, like the Veneziano amplitude, have desirable features for hadron physics, but they fall off exponentially in the fixed angle, high energy limit. They are “soft”, whereas QCD amplitudes should be “hard”, scaling as a certain power of the energy. In holography, hard scattering can be obtained by taking flat space string amplitudes, placing them in a higher dimensional background (such as AdS5) and integrating over the radial coordinate, in a procedure due to Polchinski & Strassler. I will review this approach and talk about our recent paper [hep-th/2111.12106], where we utilize the PS approach in different holographic models, and investigate properties of the resulting amplitudes. |
